Start again

I have had to remove the last two entries and put them in again, since the original script seemed to throw up a runtime error and I'm not clever enough to track this down and resolve it.

Saturday was a time to link up with the other Labour candidates and councillors at the Robert Tressell Festival social event. The festival is held in Hastings every year. This is a picture of the banner which commemorates one of Hastings most famous authors (though not as famous as Catherine Cookson, who lived here for a large chunk of her life). Robert Tressell lived here in the early years of the last century. During that time he wrote one of the all time classic socialist novels 'The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists' based on places and people in Hastings.

Photoblog

With a bit more time after the elections, I have resolved to find out much more about the resources which 20six offers for building councillor blog sittes. I have just learned how to set up a photoblog, which I hope will be a really useful avenue of communication in the next couple of years. - The link and first photo are on the lefhand side of this page.

Mayor making

Tomorrow is ‘mayor making’ in ffice:smarttags" />Hastings - which is a sort of cross between panto and gormenghast. Lots of dressing up in gowns and hats for the other political groups and plenty of silly ritual.

Since the photoblog has become such a popular addition to 20six, I shall get lots of photo’s and stick them on the site.

Keep in touch all year round

I spent this morning delivering ‘thank you’ leaflets to electors in Central St Leonards, with information on who the councillors are (one being me) and how to contact them. This  follows the local elections 10 days ago, where we continued to hold the seat which was up for election.

After that, I came home and uploaded pictures onto my photo blog. Use the button on the left-hand side of this page for photos of a windy walk into town.

London, leaflets and litter bins

I went out delivering more thank you for voting leaflets yesterday. Central St Leonards is an area of significant deprivation, where there is always a considerable amount of complex casework. But at least this side of an election there is more time to address the issues which come up. After leafleting for a couple of hours I got a train to ffice:smarttags" />London for a meeting of the Executive of the Local Government Information Unit (see photo blog for more details).fficeffice" />
